The primary objective of this role is to train and certify individuals to become proficient Train Assistants. This involves successful completion of theoretical training modules and practical exposure to real-world operations. Once you complete the training, you will be equipped to independently perform Train Assistant duties, contributing to Transnet’s mission of delivering reliable and safe freight services.Key Responsibilities
During your training period as a Trainee Train Assistant, you will:
Complete Theoretical Training: Undergo a comprehensive training program within a specified timeframe to build a strong foundational knowledge base.
Practical Training: Gain hands-on experience in a real-world operational environment, understanding equipment and processes.
Safety Compliance: Learn and practice safety procedures, ensuring that work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of your training experience, both theoretical and practical, to showcase your progress.

To apply for the position of Transnet Train Assistant Trainee, you must meet the following educational and experience criteria:
Educational Requirement: Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and/or Physical Science.
Functional Training: Be willing to successfully complete both theoretical and practical training to gain certification as a Train Assistant.
Medical and Fitness Requirements:
Must undergo periodic medical surveillance and safety behavioral risk assessments.
Physical, hearing, vision, and mental fitness will be verified through medical tests.
Applicants must be 21 years or older as per SANS 3000 regulations.
Height Requirement: Minimum of 1.6 meters tall.
Psychomotor Ability: Will be assessed through the Vienna Testing System (VTS) standard.
